It may not make up for the snatching of the Cleveland Browns a few years back, but the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission just coaxed a major sports marketing convention away from Baltimore.
The National Sports Forum, a conference and trade show for 400 sports marketing and pro- motion executives, will come to the Renaissance Cleveland Ho- tel in January. The convention's leaders were close to inking a deal with Baltimore when some quick maneuvering by the nonprofit sports commission led to Cleveland's interception of the event.
