ONCE AGAIN Ronald Reagan tops the Gallup Poll's list of most admired men. Pope John Paul II finished second, with Gary Hart and Jesse Jackson breathing down the Pontiff's neck, tied for third. And Mikhail Gorbachev tied with Lee lacocca for eighth, a notch ahead of Jimmy Carter.
With this list, opinion polling approaches the reducdo ad absurdum. With all due respect to the President, how many Americans really admire him more than anyone else? He is, rather, the best known of public figures who are seen in a positive light. And in the same way, few Americans can seriously think Gorbachev a better man than ...
