A Nags Head artist with a penchant for trying new things is taking a new look at Olde Towne.
Matthew Norman specializes in portraits, beach scenes and seascapes. Now he's added architectural portraits to his list of special interests. Nine of his recent paintings of Olde Towne buildings and their environs will be featured in a show opening today at Riverview Gallery, 1 High St.
``These are oils on paper,'' Norman said. ``I'm excited about this technique.''
The works are painted on a special treated paper to resist the acid in oil paints. The oils take on a transparency when used this way.
