PUT YOUR BET on one native Virginian to take off with top honors Sunday night at the Academy Awards.
Warren Beatty, a native of Richmond, is the only sure winner in a 72nd Oscar celebration that is notable for its lack of sure bets. The competitive races are the closest in years.
Beatty, though, will be getting more screen time than the ``best actor'' when he is presented the coveted Irving Thalberg Memorial Award, which is given to ``creative producers whose bodies of work reflect a consistently high quality of motion picture production.''
