Have you ever wondered how some of the time-honored Norfolk area place names got their designations? Well, ponder no longer, for here are the answers for the three most important ones.
Norfolk - The name Norfolk as a corporate appelation was derived from the ``Towne of Lower Norfolk County'' that was ordered to be established by the Lower Norfolk County Court on Aug. 18, 1680, in compliance with ``An Act for Co-habitation and Encouragement of Trade and Manufacture'' passed in June of the same year by the General Assembly at Jamestown.
