Twice in two months, Hampton Roads has been snubbed in studies and maps for potential high-speed rail lines in Virginia and other Southeastern states.
State transportation officials say it's an oversight and insist that connecting Hampton Roads to high-speed rail is a priority. But local rail advocates still worry about getting sidetracked.
``We cannot afford to take anything for granted,'' said Barry Bishop, executive vice president of the Greater Norfolk Corp. and a member of the Virginia High Speed Rail Development Committee.
