In this year of the starless All-Star Game, the biggest baseball name in Southern California is also staying home.
Tony Gwynn will be watching in San Diego, instead of playing in Atlanta, after a serious knee injury forced him to endure only the second season in the past 17 when he wasn' t voted onto the National League team.
``God, you'd always love to go,'' Gwynn said, ``but it all depends how you look at it. People are making a big deal of it down here. It' s amazing how many think I' m crushed because I' m not going. I' m really not disappointed. I' m more concerned about my health.''
