AFTER VISITING CUBA WITH a delegation of Arkansas farmers, I remain convinced that the embargo in Cuba helps Castro more than it hurts him. In my mind, this embargo currently only serves two purposes: It gives the Castro regime a scapegoat on which to blame everything wrong with Cuba, and it prevents American farmers and businesses from exporting products to Cuba's 11 million people.
For several years, I have advocated allowing food and medicine trade with Cuba. Since Fidel Castro rose to power in 1959, America has placed an embargo on all exports to Cuba. More than 40 years later, Castro is still in power and Cuba imports am insufficient amount of food and other ...
