PROJECT OVERVIEW
France-based INSTITUT FRANCAIS DU PETROLE (IFP) recently signed a licensing agreement with the local NAGAJURNA OIL CORP. LTD. for the installation of a 955,000 ton per year diesel hydrotreating unit. The new facility, of undisclosed cost, is to be sited at the Pennar refinery complex located in Cuddalore, India.
The unit in question is intended to enable processing a blend of straight-run gas oil, FCC light cycle oil and visbreaker oil. As a result, the facility will permit a significant improvement in the cetane number as well as allow a reduction in sulfur content to below 55 ppm.
