CHANGE OF USE. Los Alamos National Laboratory scientists have developed a new technology to remove lead and other heavy metals from military firing ranges littered with depleted uranium shells. In the future, the technology may be adapted so that companies removing lead from other types of sites could use it as well, said a researcher at Battelle Institute's recent Remediation of Chlorinated and Recalcitrant Compounds conference in Monterey, Calif.
