Article: DNA Chip Developed to Diagnose Wilson's Disease.

A DNA chip has been developed for the diagnosis of Wilson's disease, a disorder of the body's chemistry that causes toxic concentration of copper to accumulate in the liver and brain.

A research team led by Prof. Lee Sang-yup of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) said yesterday that it has succeeded in devising the test kit by using genetic technology in cooperation with Dr. Hahn Si-houn, professor of medicine at Ajou University.

``The DNA chip is specially designed to diagnose Wilson's disease among Korean patients who have genetic mutations different from Westerners,'' said Dr. Hahn.
