As much as anything, people seem to just like being around him. He remembers the names of faculty and department heads, knows the work they're doing, thinks to ask after their families. They trust that he means what he says. And, as any number of people will tell you, he has a great sense of humor.
Meet V. Lane Rawlins, the only finalist named in Washington State University's search for a new president. The WSU Board of Regents is expected to name Rawlins president today at an afternoon news conference. He will replace WSU's president of 15 years, Sam Smith, who will retire July 1.
