Suspended Garfield High School Principal Al Jones will resign rather than fight the Seattle Public Schools' decision to fire him over alleged misconduct with a student.

In a deal made final last night, Jones agreed to resign - dropping his appeal of the attempt to fire him - in exchange for the district removing a single allegation from its 20 charges against him. The district will drop the accusation that Jones had sexual contact with the young woman, who graduated in June from Garfield and was 18 at the time of the alleged misconduct.
