It was November 1997, and the walls were closing in on Michelle Hall.
Incarcerated for yet another felony arrest, Hall, for the first time felt the full weight of the past 10 years of her life: Arrested 47 times, in and out of jail on charges ranging from grand theft auto to prostitution, a 10-year crack addiction, estrangement from her family and her two children.
``Everything just looked dark,'' says Hall, 33.
She has a sweet face with sparkling eyes, is well groomed and polite - hardly the type of person you'd expect to tell this story.
