The mystery surrounding a new attack on the integrity of the chief judge in the Watergate case may not be much of a mystery at all. Let me try to shed some light on it so it can become a subject for ``Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?''
In a new book, ``Gone: The Last Days of The New Yorker,'' Renata Adler writes about Judge John J. Sirica, saying that ``contrary to his reputation as a hero, Sirica was in fact a corrupt, incompetent and dishonest figure.'' She also says he had ``clear ties to organized crime.'' That surprising charge comes in a part of her book where she describes a profile that she wrote on G. Gordon Liddy but that was never published.
