Ballard scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning yesterday then held on to defeat Holy Names 4-3 and became the first public school to capture the Metro fastpitch title.
Senior Zoe Fisher-Falk came up with a clutch double in the inning and sophomore Allie Kunkel pitched a complete game for the victory.
``That was the best game we've played all season,'' Kunkel said. ``We respect Holy Names so much, but we were confident that today was our day.''
