Could the lowly seed plant - represented by such crops as canola, sunflowers and soybeans - produce the oils that could eventually replace petrochemicals in making certain plastics and resins?
That's what the Oilseed Engineering Alliance wants to find out.
The alliance is a $10 million, five-year research effort sponsored by Dow Chemical, Dow Agro-
Sciences and several academic and government research units, including Washington State University.
