Binney & Smith, makers of Crayola crayons, yesterday said an independent laboratory had tested its crayons and found that they do not contain asbestos.

RJ Lee Group of Pittsburgh, an EPA-approved laboratory, said it conducted three types of tests on two crayons and issued a report to the company stating the crayons did not contain asbestos.

The findings conflict with results obtained by two independent government-certified labs who did tests at the request of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
