While gasoline prices climbed nationwide during the past month, the price for self-serve unleaded in Washington has dropped, just in time for the Memorial Day weekend.
But before you start planning the family's cross-country driving vacation this summer, consider this: The average price of gas in Washington is still 23 cents higher than it was a year ago, according to an AAA survey. And it may rise here and elsewhere before the kids are due back at school.
Nationwide, gas prices have dropped 7 cents in the past month. But nationally, gas prices on the average are up 37 cents compared with a year ago.
