Jul. 13--Kanawha County school officials audited St. Albans High School Athletic Boosters financial records this week and gave the organization a clean bill of health.
But auditors did not address the propriety of newly elected school board member Jim Crawford's decision to write $1,500 in checks to his son for work as the high school weightlifting coach, school system Treasurer Harry Reustle said Wednesday.
"That's out of the scope of our accounting review," Reustle said. "That's a legal, ethical, conflict-of-interest question."
Crawford requested the audit after he returned from vacation last week. He did not return phone calls Wednesday.
