Conectiv Inc. said Thursday it will build a $300 million power plant in Bethlehem, Pa., as it tries to meet the region's high demand for electricity.
The Wilmington, Del., energy company said it expects to complete the plant _ which will produce 550 megawatts, or enough electricity to power about 180,000 homes _ by 2002.
Conectiv's plant will be constructed on part of a site along the Lehigh River that used to house Bethlehem Steel Corp.'s now-idle foundry. The site is being redeveloped as an industrial park.
The power plant is part of Conectiv's strategy to focus on large energy users, moving away from supplying individual households. For ...
