Milk cartons are piled high. Tables are cluttered with drinks and rolls of tape. And energetic children chatter incessantly and zip around the room. It looks like chaos. It sounds like chaos. But on a deeper level, things at the Wood residence are definitely under control.

On a recent Tuesday evening, Colleen Wood and a cadre of family members, friends, children and neighbors gathered in her living-room-turned-laboratory to start folding and taping hundreds of milk cartons for the Mendota Heights family's entry in this year's Aquatennial Milk Carton Boat Race.
