Retail Order Delays Move Carded Yarn Buying Closer

Buying has moved closer in the carded cotton yarn market than in previous months, according to spinners, with orders held up by unsettled retailer buying plans.

Carded yarn business is also sporadic, particularly for knit yerns. Orders from these knitters have also been delayed, executives said, again citing the lack of retail commitments.

One carded source told DNR, "Business is holding its own, but we're not writing orders as far forward. People are buying closer and it seems to be unsettled as far as retail is concerned. They haven't put their fall lines together."
