While technology dominated the U.S. stock markets in 1999, not everyone benefited from the frenzy.
More stocks listed on the three major exchanges lost ground than gained, and a number of important sectors - including banking and drug companies - lost ground, as well.
It's true that technology stocks pushed all of the major indexes to record highs.
