Christ Hospital plans to build a new nursing school and heart-care unit and double the size of its emergency room, all with a $77 million gift from the charitable foundation that supports it.
The funding, announced Thursday, is the largest single gift ever made by the Elizabeth Gamble Deaconess Home Association.
And the project is the first major construction at Christ since 1988, when its outpatient services building opened.
