H. Rap Brown, the 1960s black militant, was cornered in a shed and arrested Monday after a gun battle with U.S. marshals searching for him in last week's fatal shooting of a sheriff's deputy, authorities said.

Brown, once the justice minister of the Black Panther Party and now known as Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin, was arrested outside Montgomery, FBI agent Theodore Jackson said.

He was found hiding in the shed three days after he allegedly killed a Georgia deputy and seriously wounded another while they tried to serve him with an arrest warrant in Atlanta.
