Campbell County Commissioner Dave Otto wants the Sanitation District No. 1 to speed up plans for a new sewage treatment plant in Campbell County, even if that means building it before a plant is built in Boone County.
Under existing plans, the Boone County plant is to be completed in 2005. The Sanitation District doesn't expect the Campbell County plant to be ready before 2012.
But Otto said many areas of Campbell County must contend with raw sewage from faulty septic tanks. In addition, inadequate treatment has slowed growth in some parts of the county.
