The sound you hear upon entering the Robert S. Marx Theatre at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park for ''The Beauty Queen of Leenane'' is rain.
The falling water provides a backdrop for the humble cottage in County Galway of ailing, cranky Mag Folan (Pauline Flanagan) and her entrapped 40-year-old daughter Maureen (Giulia Pagano).
But the rain in director John Going's production, which opened Thursday night, also is symbolic of inner bleakness of these women's lives.
