Spear points, stone tools, pipes and shards of pottery routinely turn up in Boone County fields, along creeks and back yards.
The Boone County Historic Preservation Review Board is inviting hobbyists and others interested in identifying their finds to attend an artifact identification event from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Big Bone Lick State Park.
Boone County was the site of extensive prehistoric Indian occupations dating back to the Paleoindian culture of 12,000 years ago.
Many prehistoric and historic archaeological sites have been documented in the county, but private collections often contain unappreciated treasures.
