If mashed potatoes have been off your everyday menu list because of the electric mixer, then run to a gadget display and buy an old-fashioned wire potato masher. It will work just fine.
The new fashion for ''rustic'' mashed potatoes allows a cook to refrain from even peeling potatoes, much less hauling forth an upright electric mixer in order to beat and beat the type of creamy, delicate whipped potatoes we all would recognize from old-fashioned Sunday dinners and most every holiday meal.
