There's probably no better way to round out a lifestyle brand -- or to finance a massive consumer advertising campaign -- than by handing out lots of licenses.
The downside, of course, is the loss of brand control and products distributed in a mish-mosh of channels. See Wachner versus Calvin Klein for an example of this.
Still, it's a risk worth taking according to Unionbay, the denim-driven young men's brand owned by Seattle Pacific Industries.
