High-powered world environmental activists have joined a local movement to preserve tidal land under reclamation on the the western coast of Cholla-pukto.
Recipients of the Goldman Environmental Prize, an international prize honoring environmentalists, called for a halt of the reclamation of the Saemangum tidal land in a joint declaration Sunday in San Francisco.
``The recipients have joined hands with local movements, by signing the declaration in their attempt to preserve the vast and rare tidal land from destruction,'' said a staff memeber of the Korean Federation for Environmental Movement yesterday.
