IN COLOMBIA, THE ONLINE EDITOR FOR Eltiempo.com, the digital version of daily newspaper El Tiempo has been lured away by U.S.-based StarMedia to direct the Internet portal's Colombian site. His defection will not be the last.
Julio C[acute{e}]sar Guzm[acute{a}]n, a technology writer and editor for El Tiempo since 1995, says StarMedia offered him more opportunity.
"The focus is totally different. At the end of the day, El Tiempo is a newspaper, while StarMedia is an Internet company," says the 31-year-old Guzm[acute{a}]n, whose recruitment came just weeks after LATIN TRADE'S March 2000 Web site rankings placed Eltiempo.com as the region's best online ...
