Kansas City _ Johnny Damon felt sick before Tuesday's game began. It would be Hollywood stuff to say he felt great, like a million bucks _ or 6 million bucks after arbitration. It would be Disneyland stuff to say Damon knew he could go out there and hit four doubles and make the catch of the year and still smile big for the television cameras after a shaving-cream pie was shoved in his face.
Truth is, Damon did not feel great before the game began. He felt sick. He felt queasy. Mostly, he felt tired. Tired of struggling, maybe. Tired of losing, maybe. Damon was just plain tired.
