NEW YORK -- The skin care category is a valuable one for mass retailers, outperforming the health and beauty care (HBC) average by such measures as the percentage of households purchasing and the average dollar amount spent per consumer.
IRI divides skin care into five segments--facial cleansers ($597 million in sales), facial moisturizers ($360 million), skin fade/age/ bleach cream ($315 million), acne treatments ($287 million) and depilatories ($105 million).
