C. K. Williams has been awarded the 2000 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry for his eighth collection, Repair (Farrar Straus). Also nominated as finalists were Elegy for the Southern Drawl, by Rodney Jones (Houghton Mifflin) and Midnight Salvage, Poems 1995-1998, by Adrienne Rich (W.W. Norton). The prize carries a value of $5,000. Poets Alan Williamson, Bonnie Costello, and Yusef Komunyakaa served as jurors. ?? Poet Ha Jin won the $15,000 PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction for his second novel, Waiting, which was selected from over 250 novels and short story collections published in 1999. The volume earlier won the National Book Award.
