For the next four days, anxious people will stare and point and puzzle over him, as if he were one of those freshly cut crop circles that magically appear in this corner of the world.
Tiger Woods comes to the Old Course at St. Andrews today, seeking ultimate golf glory, the final leg to his personal grand slam.
Expectations have run so high for the gilded one, that should he accomplish this feat - joining Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Gene Sarazen as the only golfers to win all four majors in a career - there will be immediate demands for Woods to do this in a solitary year.
