Perhaps the loftiest name for a commodity group is BEAN, which stands for Bean Education and Awareness Network. The Chicago, Ill., BEAN workers keep on cranking out creative recipes and nutrition news about beans' many health benefits.
The latest dispatch says that July is Baked-Bean Month and urges bean-bakers to visit the BEAN Web site at www.americanbean.org.
Proving that there's more to life than white beans in the traditional bean melting pot, BEAN suggests this four-bean bake with navy beans, limas, red beans and blackeyes. The sauce is as Midwesterners like it - barbecue-flavored, with tomato sauce, brown sugar and bacon.
