In an effort to streamline the purchasing and accounts-payable process at The Earthgrains Co., buyers implemented a purchasing card program (MasterCard) for requisitioners to use to pay for indirect materials and services.
In the three years since, the card program has not only helped the St. Louis-based baking and refrigerated dough products company to consolidate its accounts payable function, but also to gather data on requisitioners' indirect materials spending activity.
