Andrzej Komorowski Head of Poland's veterinary services, acknowledged on 18 July that veterinary controls in the country remain inadequate in relation to European Union requirements, owing to a lack of appropriate legislation and computer back-up. But the issue is one of the most sensitive in accession negotiations between Poland and the European Union. Mr Komorowski indicated that a new law is being drafted by the Ministry of Agriculture and will shortly be tabled for approval before the Government and Parliament.
