Just off Interstate Highway 395 between Nevada and California at an altitude of about 5000 feet lies Topaz Lake, a trailer-boater's dream destination. If you are towing, the lake is about 1 1/2 hours from Reno, Nevada, five hours from San Francisco, California, or eight from Los Angeles, California.
Topaz offers lots to do. For one, there's excellent trout fishing. You should also bring waterskis and wakeboards for the summer months. Or you can take some time out during the moderate fall season to go "crawdadding." September is the month to put out the traps and fill the pail with crayfish.
