The Environmental Protection Division (EPD) has issued a General National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Permit (NPDES) for Storm Water Discharges from Construction Activities.
The NPDES permit will be effective August 1, 2000, and will enable EPD to more effectively regulate silt, sediment and other pollutants that are carried by storm water from construction sites. It requires companies developing sites greater than five acres to design and implement a plan to control runoff from the site in the event of rain.
