In a few small pockets of only a few scattered forests of Madagascar, the ultratiny golden mantella frog likes to climb onto the highest perch around. Sitting regally, in plain view, he is not at all shy about showing off his magnificent colors off blood red or orange.
Elsewhere on this huge island, his cousin, the yellow mantella, makes up for its less intense color by displaying even bolder behavior. The male climbs to the highest point he can find; he croaks loudly and persistently, daring other males to move into his territory.
