Fifteen states now require it for architects, 16 for engineers, and six for contractors
As if to confirm that learning is a life-long process, building team members increasingly must obtain continuing education in order to maintain their livelihood.
Fifteen states now mandate continuing education for architects, with requirements effective this year in Oklahoma, New Mexico and Vermont. Five other states are finalizing regulations: New York, Texas, Oregon (effective in January), Nebraska and New Jersey (effective in August 2001). With these implementations, 20 states will have continuing education requirements for architects.
