The accounting firm Plante & Moran LLP says it has begun talks that could result in a merger with a large firm based in Northeast Ohio.
Michael Bender, managing partner for Plante & Moran in Cleveland, said the Southfield, Mich.-based firm is in "prelim-inary discussions" with a Northeast Ohio accounting firm that could add 30 to 150 accountants to the firm's 30-person office in the Hanna Building at 1422 Euclid Ave.
"We would like to do a single deal that would make us one of the dominant players in this market," said Mr. Bender, who declined to identify the potential partner. Plante & Moran has 1,300 employees in 16 offices in Michigan and Ohio.
