Bowling is to entertainment what the accordion is to music, what the plastic pocket protector is to fashion, and what clear plastic sofa covers are to interior design.
In other words, bowling is dorky.
And yet, certain signs suggest that bowling is becoming ... (could it be?) cool!
Teenagers, for example, think bowling shoes - that suspiciously moist and garishly colored footwear with the size prominently displayed on the back - look pretty hip. They've been known to steal rented bowling shoes from bowling alleys just because they like the look, and this fall, a few top designers are coming out with copycat versions of bowling shoes.
