Tucker Wireline Services originated in Trinidad in 1935 when Alvin Tucker a drilling superintendent for Shell Oil at the time, took advantage of a move by large oil companies to divest themselves of their own service divisions. Trinidad Oilfield Services, as Tucker Wireline was initially called, performed cementing and wire line work for the larger companies, displaying its intention of leading the way in the field when it introduced braided wire line to the oil business in Venezuela.
