Three years after introducing its SUV fighter, Volvo premieres its second-generation Cross Country all-wheel-drive station wagon that's loaded with new technology and styling cues. The first-generation Cross Country has become a smash hit for Volvo, accounting for about one-third of its station wagon sales.
The Cross Country was introduced in 1997. Bringing out a second generation in three years is remarkable for Volvo, which has been known for allowing models to stay on the market for many years before changing to a new-generation model.
