When Tyronne Drakeford signed with the Washington Redskins last month, his agent called him "the best fourth cornerback in the NFL." This weekend Drakeford finally got the opportunity to live up to that title.
Drakeford, 29, entered camp as the Redskins' sixth corner, trailing the likes of third-round draft pick Lloyd Harrison and third-year Redskin Tim Denton. It was an unfamiliar position on the depth chart for Drakeford, who started 41 games for San Francisco (1994-97) and New Orleans (1998-99).
"It's very odd," Drakeford said. "It almost feels like I'm a rookie again because I'm being evaluated so closely . . . on a limited number of plays."
