A six-figure investment has been made by a leading German manufacturer of fire extinguishers, to take advantage of a breakthrough in the application of corrosion-resistant linings.

With specialist engineering partner Gravatom, the European leader in thermoplastics coatings, Plascoat Systems, UK, has developed a semi-automated system with the capability of applying linings to up to 360 steel cylinders an hour, manned by just two operators.

Savings in the use of powder coating are expected to produce a rapid return, with further contribution from highly energy-efficient heating systems.
